Community rallies round grief-stricken Enright family

Leading community workers in the Upper Springfield area have moved swiftly to set up a trust fund for the young wife and family of loyalist murder victim Terry Enright.

"There was a huge outpouring of sympathy for the Enright family last week as was seen in the massive turnout for Terry's funeral," said top community activist Tommy Gorman, "but now its time to match our condolences with practical help and solidarity. Deirdre Enright is left alone to bring up five-year-old Ciara and little Aoife on her own, a daunting task at the best of times for any young mother, but a job made one thousand times harder by the heartbreak she is experiencing."

Among the fundraising events planned for the Terry Enright Dependants Appeal Fund are a sponsored walk and a social evening. "We will also be approaching local businesses as well as the clubs and associations in West Belfast to ask for their support," added Tommy. "We've no doubt that many of the ordinary people who were moved last week to attend Terry's funeral will also want to make a gesture of support."

Anyone involved in collections for the new fund will have full identification from the Upper Springfield Resource Centre, added Tommy. "

A bank account will open shortly and full details will be published in the meantime we would ask the public to be give our efforts their full support."grief-stricken Enright familyLeading community workers in the Upper Springfield area have moved swiftly to set up a trust fund for the young wife and family of loyalist murder victim Terry Enright.
